APCOM Launches 2026 Grassroots Impact Awards in Nigeria

The Association of Practitioners of Community Media in Nigeria (APCOM) has initiated the APCOM Grassroots Impact Awards 2026, aimed at recognizing and documenting exceptional contributions from individuals, institutions, and communities across Nigeria's grassroots. APCOM President Abayomi Adejumo announced the initiative, emphasizing that recognition should be based on impact rather than prominence.

The awards will focus on measurable contributions in areas such as grassroots governance, community development, public service, education, healthcare, enterprise, innovation, and community journalism. Unlike traditional awards ceremonies, APCOM plans to present awards directly in the honorees' offices or communities, where their achievements will be documented.

These stories will be compiled in the APCOM Grassroots Impact Compendium 2026, establishing a permanent national record. Nominations will be evaluated against specific criteria, ensuring that the selection process remains independent of commercial influences.

Submissions are currently open and should include the nominee's name, location, area of impact, and a brief statement of verifiable achievements.
