Akano Nominated for 2026 Humanity Flourishing Prize

Timothy Olukayode Akano, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of New Horizons Africa Group, has been shortlisted for the 2026 Humanity Flourishing Prize, awarded by I AM HUMANITY. This recognition highlights Akano's over two decades of commitment to education, technology, and youth empowerment, particularly addressing Africa's out-of-school children crisis.

The winners will be revealed on October 24, 2026, during Humanity Day. Akano emphasized that the nomination serves as a spotlight on the 100 million children globally who lack access to education.

In 2026, he initiated the Almajiri-to-Tech Empowerment Scheme, training 21 Almajiri children in technology while providing essential support. His philanthropic efforts include adopting Baptist Day School in Osun State and enhancing facilities for 300 pupils, as well as supporting the Federal School of the Blind in Lagos.

New Horizons Africa Group, founded in 2005, has trained over two million technology professionals and has expanded into artificial intelligence and semiconductor training. Akano has received over 350 awards for his contributions to these fields.
