APRA Honored with Africa PR Legacy Award at 2026 Summit

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) was awarded the Africa PR Legacy Award for its significant contributions to public relations in Africa. The award was presented during the 2026 ASCOM Communication Summit and Awards on September 17, 2026, at CRRAE UMOA in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

APRA is the first organization to receive this award, which was nominated by a Paris-based communications company. The jury acknowledged APRA’s 50-year legacy and commitment to professional unity, standardization, and collaboration within the public relations sector.

Michel Russel Lohore, CEO of ASCOM, praised APRA for its role in fostering collaboration among public relations professionals and promoting strategic communication as vital for Africa's development. Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, APRA's secretary general, accepted the award on behalf of APRA president Mr. Arik Karani, expressing gratitude for the recognition and reaffirming APRA's dedication to enhancing public relations practices across the continent.
