Obafemi Awolowo Foundation Opens 2026 Leadership Prize Nominations

The Obafemi Awolowo Foundation has announced the opening of nominations for the 2026 edition of the Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership, along with the introduction of new Sectoral Leadership Awards. Nominations for the prestigious biennial leadership prize will be accepted from August 1 to October 31, 2026, while entries for the new awards will close on September 30, 2026.

The awards aim to preserve and promote the leadership ideals of Obafemi Awolowo by recognizing individuals whose contributions have significantly transformed lives through ethical and people-centered leadership. The foundation emphasized the importance of integrity, accountability, and measurable societal impact in the selection process.

It particularly encourages nominations of qualified women, highlighting the significance of inclusive leadership for sustainable national development. The newly established Sectoral Leadership Awards will recognize outstanding leadership in four categories: Public Service, Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility, Educational Transformation, and People-Centered Advocacy and Support for the Underprivileged.
