APC's Prof. Dayo Faduyile Wins Ondo South By-Election

Prof. Dayo Faduyile of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the Ondo South senatorial by-election held on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Faduyile received the highest number of votes, totaling 68,474. His closest competitor, Adeolu Akinwunmi of the People's Movement, garnered 1,411 votes, while Adesanya Olaoluwa of the Action People's Party received 213 votes.

The total number of votes cast in the election was 70,770, with 602 votes rejected. The results were announced by Prof.

Gbenga Solomon Ibiley, Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, on Sunday at the INEC collation center in Okitipupa, Ondo State. Mutiu Agbok, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo State, stated that the election served as a test ground for the 2027 general elections and noted minor challenges that were recorded.

He expressed gratitude for the safe return of INEC staff and reported no negative incidents during the election across the six local government areas involved.
