APM Demands Accountability on Fuel Subsidy Proceeds

The APM, represented by Hon. Abubakar Yusuf, has demanded that the Federal Government of Nigeria provide a detailed account of the proceeds from the removal of fuel subsidies.

This demand follows the significant economic hardship faced by Nigerians since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration declared the end of fuel subsidies on May 29, 2023. The APM highlights that despite the government claiming to have accrued N20 trillion from the subsidy removal, citizens have not seen improvements in their welfare.

The party notes that fuel prices have surged from below N200 per liter to N1,500 per liter, leading to increased transport fares, food prices, and overall living costs. They criticize the APC administration for a lack of transparency and accountability regarding the funds, stating that millions of families are struggling to afford basic necessities.

The APM insists on the need for an independent assessment of the subsidy removal's impact and emphasizes that genuine reforms should translate into tangible benefits for the populace.
