APM Says Tinubu Lacks Leadership Capacity, Alleges Rule by Unelected Cabal

The Allied Peoples Movement accused President Tinubu of delegating state duties to family members and aides, claiming Nigeria needs stronger leadership.
The Allied Peoples Movement levelled fresh criticism at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday, through National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf, stating the president has not shown the capability to lead Nigeria effectively. The opposition party alleged that unelected family members, senior advisers, and other associates exercise significant control over government decisions, effectively running the State House without electoral mandate.
Yusuf's statement highlighted three areas of concern: the administration's apparent detachment from ordinary Nigerians' needs, the government's response to ongoing insecurity across the country, and handling of economic matters. The party also cited the president's limited participation in major international events as evidence of disengagement from his formal responsibilities.
The APM contended that President Tinubu has transferred his official obligations to these unelected figures rather than executing them personally. The party positioned this as a demonstration of inadequate leadership capacity, framing it within the context of Nigeria's preparations for the 2027 presidential election cycle.
This marks a renewed round of public criticism from the APM, which has previously voiced similar concerns about the administration's structure and decision-making processes. The party's statement suggests its political messaging strategy ahead of future electoral contests will centre on questions of presidential performance and governance structure.
