Ayo Arise Challenges APC Primaries in Court

Ayo Arise, a former senatorial aspirant for Ekiti North, has approached the court to contest the results of the APC senatorial primaries held on Thursday. He asserts that the primaries were not conducted lawfully and that he was unjustly omitted from the list of party candidates.

In an interview in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, Arise indicated that he decided to take legal action immediately following the primaries, understanding the timelines stipulated by Nigeria's Electoral Act. He expressed that the legal action is not personally motivated but aims to ensure that political parties adhere to their own rules and uphold democratic principles.

Arise plans to file the suit within the legally prescribed period to avoid losing the opportunity for judicial intervention. He criticized the APC's actions as inconsistent with its own guidelines governing the conduct of primary elections, emphasizing the need for a transparent electoral process.
