Nigerian Army Dismisses Soldier for Indiscipline

The Army's Director of Public Relations stated that every soldier is expected to follow strict operational guidelines and that Olamilekan had appeared in media without approval while wearing military uniform, which contravened regulations. His case was handled through proper military procedures.

Olamilekan gained notoriety in February 2026 after posting a video calling on governors, senators, and ministers to allow their children to join the military at lower ranks to understand soldiers' experiences. This video attracted mixed public reactions and led to an online campaign for his release after he was reportedly detained for a week.
