Nigerian Army Disciplines Soldier Over Viral Feeding Claims

The Nigerian Army has taken disciplinary action against a soldier attached to Operation Hadin Kai following a viral social media post that alleged poor feeding conditions for troops in the North East. The statement issued on Saturday by Lt.

Col. Sanni Uba, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North East, explained that an internal review triggered by the post found it misleading and lacking full context regarding ration issues at the time.

The theatre command conducted a thorough assessment and rejected the claims circulating online, asserting they did not reflect the actual welfare and feeding arrangements for troops in the region. The Army emphasized that personnel deployed in Operation Hadin Kai receive meals in line with approved welfare packages, which are occasionally improved during festive periods.

The investigation concluded that the soldier was guilty of misconduct for distorting facts and circulating images that did not represent the complete ration allocation. Consequently, disciplinary measures were imposed in accordance with the Armed Forces Act CAP A20 Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.
