Nigerian Army Sanctions Soldier Over Misleading Feeding Claims

The Nigerian Army has taken disciplinary action against a soldier for spreading misleading claims regarding poor feeding conditions for troops deployed in the North East Theatre. Lt.

Col. Sanni Uba, a spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North East, disclosed that the action followed an internal investigation into a viral social media post.

The investigation found that the images circulated by the soldier did not accurately reflect the full ration provided to the troops. The Army emphasized that the feeding arrangements met approved standards and that efforts were made to enhance troop welfare, especially during special periods like Sallah and Easter.

The Army also urged personnel to utilize established internal channels for grievances instead of resorting to actions that misrepresent operational realities. The investigation confirmed that the images did not represent the complete ration issued to the individual at the time, leading to appropriate disciplinary measures under the Armed Forces Act of 2004.
