Troops Rescue Federal Polytechnic Rector in Zamfara

On July 28, troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully foiled multiple kidnapping attempts in Zamfara State. They rescued Dr.

Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, along with his family and 22 other victims. The first incident involved terrorists attacking Dr.

Yusuf's residence in Kaura Namoda, where they killed his private security guard and injured another resident. The troops responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and rescuing the Rector and his family unharmed.

In a separate operation that same night, troops responded to a distress call from Tungan Dorawa in Barkeji Village, where they thwarted another kidnapping attempt targeting residents, including a prominent businessman, Alhaji Azaria. The military also arrested a 45-year-old suspected terrorist informant, Falalu Yusuf, who is believed to have aided the attackers.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring security in the region.
