Troops Rescue 48 Kidnapped Villagers in Zamfara Raid

On July 26, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 48 kidnapped victims in Magami village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The operation was initiated after receiving a distress call about a terrorist attack involving approximately 40 armed individuals on motorcycles.

Upon arrival, the troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bush. Unfortunately, during the attack, one civilian was killed, and two others sustained gunshot injuries, necessitating their evacuation to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for treatment.

Following the rescue, the military conducted aggressive patrols in the area to deter further attacks. The Theatre Command commended the troops for their professionalism and reiterated their commitment to restoring security in the North-West region, urging the public to provide timely information to security agencies.
