Nigerian Army Seizes Weapons in Kaduna Arms Trafficking Bust

The Nigerian Army successfully intercepted an arms trafficking syndicate in Kaduna State, recovering three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and four submachine guns concealed in a vehicle. The operation took place at a checkpoint in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area during the early hours of Monday, following credible intelligence regarding the movement of illicit arms from Plateau State to Niger State.

Troops intercepted a suspect vehicle, an ash-colored Mercedes Benz, and during the stop-and-search operation, discovered the hidden weapons. The suspects attempted to flee, prompting the troops to shoot at them.

One suspect was evacuated to the Sector 7 Medical Centre in Kafanchan for treatment. Preliminary investigations indicated that the weapons were allegedly supplied by two arms dealers based in Jos, intended for delivery in Niger State.

This operation is described as a significant blow to illegal arms trafficking and underscores the Nigerian Army's resolve to disrupt arms proliferation and dismantle criminal networks threatening national security.
