Army Intercepts 180 Explosives in Zamfara Operation

On August 14, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, intercepted a suspected arms and explosives courier, identified as 57-year-old Sani Umar, in Zamfara State. The troops conducted routine snap checks on vehicles, leading to the discovery of 180 units of 20mm Super Power explosives that Umar was allegedly transporting from Gusau Local Government Area to terrorist elements in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, confirmed the recovery of the explosives and stated that Umar, his vehicle, and the explosives are in custody for further investigation. Concurrently, troops engaged in offensive operations against terrorists in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of two suspected terrorists and the recovery of weapons and motorcycles.

The military emphasized its commitment to disrupting terrorist activities and logistics networks in the North West.
