Army Intercepts 180 Explosives in Zamfara State

On Friday, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, intercepted a courier named Sani Umar, aged 57, who was transporting 180 units of 20mm Super Power explosives in Zamfara State. The interception occurred during routine vehicle checks by Sector 2 troops.

Umar was reportedly moving the explosives from Gusau Local Government Area to suspected terrorist groups in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State. Following the interception, the Nigerian Army, represented by Media Information Officer Lt.

Col. Aliyu Danja, confirmed that Umar, his vehicle, and the explosives are in custody for further investigation.

Concurrently, troops engaged in offensive operations against terrorists in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of two suspected terrorists and the recovery of weapons and motorcycles. The military stated that these operations reflect their ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and logistics in the North West region.
