Troops Arrest Terrorist Supplier, Defuse IED in Zamfara

On August 7, 2023, troops from the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducted operations in Zamfara, resulting in the apprehension of a suspected terrorist logistics supplier, Lawali Dan Alo, and the defusal of an improvised explosive device (IED) near Jabanda village in Zurmi Local Government Area. Lt-Col Aliyu Danja reported that the troops, in collaboration with the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, cleared the IED and ensured the road's safety for motorists.

During their return, they engaged terrorists at Birnin Tsaba village, forcing them to retreat and leading to the recovery of two motorcycles and other items. In Shinkafi Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence regarding terrorist activities, resulting in further engagements and the recovery of additional items.

Lawali Dan Alo was found with N5.302 million in cash, allegedly intended for a terrorist leader. Both he and another suspect, Kasimu Garba, are in custody for further investigation.

The Theatre Command praised the troops for their efforts and emphasized ongoing operations against terrorist networks.
