Quadri Aruna Drops to 76th in ITTF Rankings

Quadri Aruna, a prominent Nigerian table tennis player, has experienced a significant decline in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings, dropping 20 spots to 76th in the world. This marks the first time since 2014 that Aruna is not ranked among the top two players in Africa, having been overtaken by Egypt's Youssef Abdel Aziz, who is now second in Africa at 57th in the world, and Algeria's Mehdi Bouloussa, who defeated Aruna in the semi-finals of the ITTF Africa Cup in February and is now third in Africa at 75th in the world.

Aruna's current ranking places him just below Bouloussa by 463 points. Omar Assar remains the top player in Africa, leading with 1,009 points.

Additionally, Nigerian players Olajide Omotayo, Matthew Kuti, and Abdulbasit Abdulfatai have also seen changes in their rankings, with Omotayo dropping to 193rd and Kuti at 198th. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Sultan Agunbiad has made progress, reaching the round of 16 at the WTT Contender in Lagos and climbing to 268th in the world.
