Governor Alia Observes Ash Wednesday in Benue State

On Ash Wednesday, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, joined Christians worldwide in observing the start of the Lenten season at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Makurdi. During the mass, he received traditional ashes on his forehead, symbolizing humility and repentance.

Alia highlighted the significance of Lent as a 40-day period dedicated to prayer, fasting, and spiritual renewal in preparation for the commemoration of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. He urged citizens to reflect on their values and conduct, emphasizing the importance of humility and truth in leadership.

Alia noted the convergence of spiritual practices between Christians and Muslims during this period and encouraged support for the less privileged. He also reflected on his aspirations for a second term in office, underscoring that his leadership is rooted in service and devotion to God.
