Alhaji Dokubo Asari Installs Son as Kalabari Chief

Alhaji Mujahid Abubakar Dokubo Asari officially installed his son, Alabo Briebibo Dienyefa Dokubo Asari, as Chief of the Kalabari Nation during a ceremony held in Rivers State. This event marked the climax of a two-month rigorous traditional rite process, which involved scrutiny of ancestral lineage and community endorsement.

The formal installation took place on a weekend, with the first phase occurring on January 17, 2026, at the Edi Polo Memorial Hall in Buguma. The second phase was held on January 24, 2026, at the Omubo Birinaomoni Memorial Hall.

The ceremony was significant, coinciding with the father's own presentation as chief in 2004, and was attended by hundreds of chiefs and dignitaries. The event featured traditional performances and reaffirmed the legitimacy of the leadership within the Kalabari Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of cultural heritage and community validation in the chieftaincy process.
