Astronomers Detect Massive Wave in Milky Way, Reshaping Galaxy's Structure

Astronomers using data from the European Space Agency's Gaia mission have detected a colossal wave moving through the Milky Way galaxy. This wave, resembling an ocean wave in space, is believed to be the result of a galactic encounter millions of years ago.

Eloisa Poggio, an astronomer from Italy's Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, led the study. The discovery challenges the long-held view of the Milky Way as a calm galaxy, revealing its dynamic and evolving nature due to ancient cosmic events.
