ASUU Strike Continues Over Unpaid Salaries in Ondo State

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), led by Comrade Bolu Oshodi, announced that its members have yet to receive salary alerts despite the Ondo State Government's release of N1.1 billion for intervention. The indefinite strike, which commenced on July 10, 2026, will persist until lecturers and affected workers confirm payment notifications in their bank accounts.

Oshodi stated that while the government has released the funds, the university is still waiting for the money to be credited, attributing the delay to banking issues. Currently, lecturers are owed three months' salaries for May, June, and July, prompting the strike.

Oshodi emphasized that the strike will not end based on promises alone. He also raised concerns about the failure to implement the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU agreement on a new salary structure, which has been adopted by several other universities.

He urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to ensure prompt salary payments and address the financial challenges faced by the university.
