Ondo State University Lecturers Launch Indefinite Strike

Lecturers at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, commenced an indefinite strike on July 10, 2023, over unpaid salaries. The decision was made during a union congress led by Bolu Oshodi, the chairperson of ASUU AAUA, which reaffirmed earlier resolutions from April 28 and June 18, 2023.

The strike will continue until the university management and the Ondo State government settle the salary arrears. The union emphasized that members would not resume teaching, supervising students, or performing official duties until the owed salaries for May and June are paid.

This industrial action is expected to significantly disrupt academic activities, including the suspension of departmental meetings and academic engagements. The ASUU AAUA also announced a national visit team scheduled for July 13 to engage members regarding the 2025 agreement with the federal government and provide updates on its implementation.
