ASUU Rejects Inclusion In Staff Support Loan Scheme

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected being included in the Staff Support Loan Scheme introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The decision was made during a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto.

ASUU President Christopher Piwuna stated that the union vehemently opposes being used as guarantors for loans under the Tertiary Institutional Staff Support Fund scheme. The NEC deliberated extensively on the proposed Tertiary Institutions Support Fund and rejected the plan to involve ASUU in the loan scheme.

ASUU plans to organize protests across all branches to express their dissatisfaction with the government's slow response to addressing their concerns. The union also intends to hold press conferences as part of the protest activities.
