Senator Gbenga Ashafa Marks 71st Birthday with Outreach

On his 71st birthday, Senator Gbenga Ashafa organized a Free Mega Medical and Eye Outreach at F’s Club in Yaba, Lagos, where 534 individuals received medical consultations, medications, and eye care services. The outreach included vision assessments, glaucoma and cataract screenings, and eye pressure checks, with eligible beneficiaries receiving free prescription eyeglasses.

Ashafa's career has focused on infrastructure and administration, having served as the Executive Secretary of Lagos’s Land Use and Allocation Committee and later as Permanent Secretary of the Lands Bureau, where he digitized the land allocation system. He represented Lagos East in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2019, chairing the Senate Committee on Land Transport and advocating for railway modernization.

Between 2020 and 2024, he led the Federal Housing Authority, promoting affordable housing projects. Ashafa also documented his career in a memoir and continues to empower youth through the Gbenga Ashafa Trust Endowment.

His birthday activities included a visit to the Love Orphanage in Magodo, where he supported children and caregivers.
