ATBU Bauchi Resolves to Ensure Peaceful Religious Activities

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi has taken significant steps to maintain peace regarding Islamic religious activities on its campus. This follows the resignation of the chief imam, Professor Mansur Isa Yelwa, which sparked widespread concern and uproar.

Zailani Bappah, the director of ATBU, announced during a press briefing that a meeting was convened with stakeholders, including the Department of State Services (DSS), to address the situation. The resolutions from this meeting include allowing Islamic sects to conduct religious activities at specific times within the university mosque and withdrawing land allocations previously given to the Tijjaniyya Muslim Association Nigeria (TIMSAN) at the Gubi campus.

Furthermore, the university will now be responsible for appointing the chief imam and his deputy, ensuring adherence to existing rules governing religious activities. The DSS was commended for its timely intervention to maintain peace on campus.
