Athena Observatory Launches Real-time Data System for Ekiti Poll

Athena Observatory has introduced a real-time electoral data system for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for Saturday. This system features near real-time result capture and aims to enhance the post-election audit process.

Osita Chidoka, Chancellor of Athena Observatory, described this development as a significant upgrade that will strengthen the evidence base for electoral assessments in Nigeria. The system will deploy 200 trained data entry personnel to capture results from polling units and upload them to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) result viewing portal, IReV.

Unlike previous audits, this new model allows for structured real-time aggregation of results, making them publicly available almost immediately. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the accuracy and speed of electoral data capture and interpretation, with a comprehensive audit report for the 2026 governorship elections in Ondo and Anambra states also anticipated.

The system's enhancements include stricter verification protocols and expanded analytical capabilities, marking a shift towards a unified analytical framework for electoral data.
