Atiku Calls for Probe into Gbajabiamila's Corruption Claims

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress in the 2027 elections, has demanded an independent investigation into Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, following fresh corruption allegations. A statement from Atiku's media office referenced a report by the People’s Gazette, which accused Gbajabiamila of illegally diverting oil revenue royalties.

Atiku emphasized the need for public officials to be held accountable, regardless of their political standing, and criticized the Tinubu administration for its lack of adequate response to corruption allegations involving senior government officials. He pointed out that the government's anti-corruption campaign appears inconsistent, particularly in light of the suspension of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, during Muhammadu Buhari's administration, which allowed for an unfettered investigation.

Atiku argued that Gbajabiamila should not be treated differently and called for accountability in governance, stressing that the administration cannot pretend to serve the people while prioritizing personal wealth.
