Eguavoen Named Interim Coach for Super Falcons' Olympic Bid

Augustine Eguavoen has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Super Falcons by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as the team prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games qualification matches against Comoros. Eguavoen takes over from Justin Madugu, who resigned along with his entire technical crew following the team's failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

This marks Eguavoen's first time coaching a female national team, having previously coached the Super Eagles on multiple occasions. He will lead the team in two matches against Comoros at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne Remo, on the 9th and 13th of the month.

The Super Falcons, being a high-seeded team, automatically earned a bye into this second-round fixture after Comoros achieved a remarkable 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan. Eguavoen will be assisted by Christopher Danjuma, Olatunji Baruwa, and Ayisat Yusuf.

The NFF has indicated that Eguavoen's appointment is temporary, with plans to appoint a permanent coach in the future.
