NFF Sacks Justin Madugu as Super Falcons Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially dismissed Justin Madugu from his position as head coach of the Super Falcons, along with his technical crew. This decision was made by the NFF's Executive Committee due to the team's disappointing performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

The Falcons also failed to secure automatic qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, losing to South Africa in the playoffs. The announcement was made via a terse statement on the NFF's X account, stating that the technical crew was asked to step down immediately.

Madugu had previously led Nigeria to its 10th WAFCON title last year and was appointed as the interim coach of the Super Falcons in September 2024, later receiving a two-year contract in October 2025. He leaves the role after two years in charge, following a campaign marked by inadequate preparations and poor performances from key players.
