Cristian Volpato Under Investigation for Cocaine Test

Cristian Volpato, a 22-year-old midfielder currently playing for Italian Serie A club Sassuolo, is under investigation by New South Wales Police after allegedly returning a positive roadside test for cocaine. The incidents occurred following two speeding violations in Sydney.

The first stop took place on the Anzac Bridge at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Thursday, where Volpato was allegedly driving between 86km/h and 94km/h in a 60km/h zone, resulting in a negative breath test. He was stopped again about two hours later for allegedly traveling at 109km/h in the same zone, during which he reportedly tested positive for cocaine.

Authorities issued him an infringement notice for speeding and suspended his international driver’s license for six months, barring him from driving in New South Wales. A secondary oral fluid sample has been collected for laboratory analysis, and investigations are ongoing.

Volpato recently represented Australia at the FIFA World Cup after switching his international allegiance from Italy earlier in the year.
