ASUU at Adekunle Ajasin University Ends Strike in 2026

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), confirmed the suspension of its over two-month strike due to financial interventions from the Ondo State Government. Prof. Boluwaji Oshodi, the ASUU Chairman, stated that a congress would direct members to resume academic activities.

Concurrently, the Joint Action Committee of Ondo State-Owned Tertiary Institutions (JAC-ODSTI), which includes the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), also suspended its indefinite strike that began on September 2, 2026. This decision, effective September 29, 2026, was attributed to the financial support from Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, which addressed issues affecting AAUA, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH), and the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo.

The committee expressed gratitude to key officials for their roles in resolving the crisis.
