Gunmen Kill Three Women at Plateau Mining Site

On September 28, 2026, three women were shot dead and another person injured at a mining site in Rakum, Plateau, when gunmen attacked around 4:30 PM. Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), confirmed the incident, expressing deep concern over the safety of individuals in the area.

John Silas, a community member, reiterated the need for security operatives to intensify efforts to track down the attackers and prevent future incidents. The attack occurred amid escalating violence in the region, with reports of numerous fatalities among farmers and herders in Mangu, Barikin Ladi, and Bokkos, prompting the government to impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew.

The state government has called for calm and assured the public of collaboration with security agencies to protect lives and property.
