Nick Kyrgios Faces Four-Year Ban After Cocaine Test

Nick Kyrgios, a 31-year-old Australian tennis player, has been provisionally suspended from competition following a positive cocaine test during the Mallorca Open. Kyrgios acknowledged the test as a "huge mistake" and expressed his struggles with the prospect of nearing the end of his career.

Since the beginning of 2023, he has participated in only eight tournaments, winning just two matches due to ongoing knee and wrist injuries. If found guilty, Kyrgios could face a ban of up to four years, although this could be reduced to three months if he can prove he was not using the substance while competing.

Kyrgios gained prominence in 2014 after defeating Roger Federer and reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, where he lost to Novak Djokovic. He is set to enter a 28-day absence from public life as he prepares for the legal proceedings that will determine the future of his professional tennis career.
