Nominations Open for Wole Oguntokun Legacy Award

The Street Project Foundation (SPF) has called for nominations for The Wole Oguntokun Legacy Award, which recognizes young Nigerians aged 18 to 35 who use theatre, storytelling, and the arts to inspire change and promote social justice. Nominations will be accepted until 22 August 2026, with the award ceremony scheduled for 11 September 2026 during the Do What U Love Festival 7.0 in Lagos.

The award is named after Wole Oguntokun, a notable Nigerian playwright, director, and lawyer who passed away in March 2024. Oguntokun was the artistic director of Renegade Theatre and Theatre Planet Studios and founded Theatre Republic, a hub for performing arts in Lagos.

He was known for addressing significant social issues through his work, including the trials behind The Emancipation of Yankee Oluwale and The Chibok Girls: Our Story. The award aims to continue his legacy by recognizing young creatives making an impact through art.
