Court Reassigns Fusengbuwa Ruling House Suit in Ogun

On Wednesday, a vacation judge, Justice A.A. Omoniyi of Court 3, Ogun State High Court, in Ijebu-Ode, ordered the reassignment of a suit filed by the Fusengbuwa Ruling House against Governor Dapo Abiodun and nine kingmakers regarding the suspension of the selection process for the next Awujale.

The suit, numbered HCJ/149/2026 and filed on August 21, 2026, was deemed urgent, but Justice Omoniyi stated he would begin his annual vacation within a week and might not return until January 2027. He adjourned the matter to September 23 for further hearing.

Counsel Olusegun Otayemi confirmed that all defendants had been served and expressed the family's readiness to proceed. The kingmakers, including Dr. Sunny Kuku, were present, and the Fusengbuwa Ruling House leadership emphasized the need for timely resolution to avoid prolonged vacancy in the kingship following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July 2025.
