Nigerian Police Summon Ijebu Monarch Over Bribery Claims in Awujale Stool Succession

The Nigerian Police Force's Ogun State Command's Criminal Investigation Department has summoned the Ijebu Monarch in connection with bribery and inducement allegations surrounding the Awujale stool. The monarch is expected to report to the State CID office in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday at 10:00 am.

The police emphasized that the invitation does not imply guilt but is part of the fact-finding process to ensure fair criminal justice delivery. The investigation comes amidst tensions over the succession process and concerns raised by the Fusengbuwa ruling house regarding political interference, financial inducement, and intimidation in the selection process.
