Babies Matter Medical Centre (BMMC) in Lagos marked World Prematurity Day by stressing the significance of early referral for premature babies. Dr.

Zainab Mudasiru and Dr. Efunbo Dosekun, co-founders of BMMC, emphasized the crucial role of timely access to neonatal care in determining the survival of preterm infants.

The center's success in caring for 120 critically ill newborns, including those born extremely premature, underscores the importance of expert intervention. The review from November 2023 to September 2025 revealed that 93% of the treated babies were born preterm, with various gestational ages represented.
