Badejo-Okusanya Leads NBA Presidential Election Poll

In the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential election, Mr. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya has secured an early lead with 4,860 votes, accounting for 41.77% of the ballots counted as of 11:33 AM on Saturday.

His nearest rival, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe SAN, has garnered 3,851 votes, representing 33.10%, while Aar Olumuyiwa Akinboro SAN follows with 2,924 votes, or 25.13%. A total of 11,600 votes have been cast so far, indicating a favorable tilt towards Badejo-Okusanya among the legal practitioners.

The current NBA president, Afam Osigwe SAN, has dismissed allegations of attempts to rig the election, asserting that the electoral committee operates independently and without external influence. He described claims of manipulation as politically motivated and unsupported by evidence.

This development follows a week of controversy surrounding the integrity of the electoral process, with stakeholders questioning the legitimacy of the elections and calling for a postponement.
