Police Foil Bandit Attack in Sokoto, Neutralize Suspect

The Sokoto State Police Command announced the successful foiling of a bandit attack in Daray Village, Wamakko Local Government Area, on July 4. The operation was initiated after a distress call was received at 1:35 AM, prompting the immediate deployment of the Anti-Kidnap Unit, the Village Crime Reduction Unit (VCRU), and tactical teams from the Wamakko Division Headquarters.

Upon arrival, police engaged in a fierce gun battle with the heavily armed bandits, forcing them to flee into the forest. One suspect was neutralized during the confrontation, and police recovered an AK-47 rifle along with a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, commended the officers for their courage and professionalism, assuring residents of continued police collaboration with security agencies to combat criminal elements and restore peace in the state.
