Agro-Rangers Recruited to Enhance Security at Okomu National Park in Edo State

The African Nature Investors Foundation, in partnership with the National Park Service, has recruited 70 agro-rangers to bolster security and safeguard biodiversity at Okomu National Park in Edo State. The project manager, Mr. Peter Abanyam, oversaw the training of 37 newly recruited agro-rangers to address the growing security challenges in the country, including banditry and kidnapping.

Retired Brig. Gen. Olajide Laleye emphasized the need for additional personnel to effectively protect the park and its surrounding communities. The rangers will undergo intensive training in basic ranger skills and arms handling to ensure the proper conservation of the park.

The Nigerian Army, represented by Brig. Gen. Ahm Balogun and Capt. Anass Ibrahim, cautioned the rangers against allowing criminal elements to infiltrate their ranks and urged strict adherence to rules and regulations for a successful assignment.
