Former Benue SSG Salifu Dies from Gunshot Injuries

Salifu, who served as the Secretary to the Benue State Government during the administration of former Governor Gabriel Suswam, died from gunshot injuries on Friday after being attacked by bandits on Thursday along the Wukari-Zakibiam road, which borders Benue and Taraba states. Reports indicate that Salifu was traveling to Wukari from Makurdi when bandits intercepted his vehicle on the outskirts of Wukari.

The assailants flagged down the vehicle, ordered the occupants to alight, and subsequently shot Salifu. He was a lecturer at the Federal University Wukari.

Following the attack, he was initially rushed to a teaching hospital in Wukari before being transferred to Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi, where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday. David Olofu, a close associate and candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the Benue South senatorial district, confirmed the incident during a telephone interview.
