Bandits Attack Benue Community, One Dead, Several Injured

On Tuesday morning, armed bandits attacked a community located along the Otukpo-Ogobia road in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. The attack occurred around 8 AM, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to several others.

Residents reported that gunmen stormed the area, firing sporadically and causing panic, prompting people to flee in different directions for safety. One individual sustained serious gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital.

The attackers also looted food items from shops in the vicinity. Gabriel Adol, the chairman of the Otukpo Local Government Area, confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi.

Following the attack, security personnel were deployed to the area to conduct operations and secure the surroundings. The local community expressed fear over the ongoing violence, with residents stating they could not safely access food supplies due to the threat posed by armed herdsmen.
