Ex-Benue SSG David Salifu Killed by Bandits in Attack

David Salifu, the former Secretary to the Government of Benue State, was fatally injured in a gun attack by suspected bandits on the Wukari-Makurdi road. The incident occurred on Thursday when Salifu was traveling from Wukari to Makurdi.

Eyewitnesses reported that armed men stopped his vehicle, ordered him to alight, and subsequently shot him. He was rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi but succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday.

Salifu served as SSG during the administration of former Governor Gabriel Suswam and was also a lecturer at the Federal University Wukari in Taraba State. His death has raised concerns about security in the region, and efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his transfer to Makurdi instead of Abuja for medical treatment are ongoing.

The Taraba State Police Command has not yet provided a response regarding the incident.
