Idoma Nation Mourns Ex-Benue SSG Salifu's Murder

The Ochetoha K'Idoma Forum expressed profound sorrow over the murder of Professor David Onu Salifu, the former Secretary to the Government of Benue State, who was killed on July 2, 2026. Salifu was attacked by armed men along the Wukari-Makurdi highway while traveling to attend his uncle's burial.

He was reportedly dragged from his vehicle and shot at close range, sustaining critical injuries that led to his death at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi on July 3, 2026. The forum described the circumstances of his death as heartbreaking and unacceptable, highlighting Salifu's significant contributions to public service and academia.

He served as Secretary to the Government from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Gabriel Suswam and was known for his dedication to community development and agricultural advancement. The forum called for security agencies to take action against the rising insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in rural areas, emphasizing the urgent need for stronger security measures following Salifu's tragic death.
