Bandits Abduct Electoral Commissioner and Ex-NSUBEB Chair in Niger State: Security Concerns Rise

Armed bandits kidnapped 30 individuals in Niger State, including the commissioner of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission and a former chairman of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board. The incident occurred near Ibbi National Park in Borgu local government area, with witnesses reporting that the assailants, numbering around 100, blocked the highway and abducted the victims.

The bandits also attacked a policeman before taking the victims into a forest. This abduction highlights the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in states like Niger, and the vulnerability of travelers and officials to such criminal activities.
