Bandits Block Kaduna Road, Kill One, Amid Peace Initiative

Bandits blocked a rural road in Giwa, Kaduna State, killing one person and robbing multiple travelers. The assailants, believed to be from Kaduna, Sabuwa, and Katsina, set up a blockade to rob commuters of their valuables and fired shots to intimidate them.

This incident occurred amidst the launch of the Kaduna model peace initiative aimed at addressing insecurity in the state through collaboration with federal agencies. Notorious bandit leader Yellow Jambros Dogo Gide, accused of various crimes, reportedly surrendered with 200 fighters for rehabilitation.

The government's efforts to tackle banditry involve negotiations and military operations.
