Bandits Attack APC Chieftain Abdullahi Marafa in Zamfara

Abdullahi Marafa, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, was shot in a highway attack on Saturday. The attack occurred when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle, resulting in injuries that required surgical removal.

Marafa narrowly escaped death and is currently recuperating at the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto. The Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Yaze, confirmed the incident but noted that a formal report had not yet been filed.

He promised to reach the Talata Mafara division office to verify the details of the attack. This incident raises concerns about the escalating banditry in Zamfara State, which has become a hotspot for such violence, particularly along major highways like Gusau-Funtua and Gusau-Sokoto, where bandits frequently emerge from forests to set illegal checkpoints and attack vehicles.
