Governor Diri Sets Ultimatum for AITEO in Bassambiri Peace Process

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has given AITEO Exploration Production Company Limited a one-month ultimatum to remit funds due to the Bassambiri community in Nembe Local Government Area. This directive follows the submission of a report by the Opu Nembe Bassambiri Peace Steering Committee, chaired by Vice Admiral Victor Ombu (retd), detailing the ongoing conflicts in the community.

Governor Diri commended the committee's efforts in restoring peace and stability, emphasizing the need to end the cycle of violence for development. The Bassambiri community has been plagued by disputes for three decades, and the governor urged them to embrace peace and reconciliation for progress.
