Jigawa First Lady Empowers Widows with Machines

On August 22, 2026, Dr. Amina Umar Namadi, the First Lady of Jigawa State, distributed sewing and grinding machines to widows in Garki Local Government Area during a state-backed economic empowerment program. The event took place at the Garki Local Government Secretariat, where Dr. Namadi, also known as "Uwar Marayu" (Mother of Orphans), emphasized the importance of providing practical tools and skills to widows for the benefit of their families and communities.

She praised Hon. Adamu Hudu Kore, the Executive Chairman of Garki LGA, for aligning local council activities with the state government's empowerment agenda. Hon. Kore, who holds the title Jarman Garki, stated that the program aims to provide widows with a sustainable means of overcoming economic hardship.

The initiative was guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Jigawa State Government's 12-Point Agenda focused on supporting women and vulnerable groups. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude and commitment to utilizing the equipment to support their households.
